Lightility reduces energy usage by 51% with $19,598 utility rebates secured at historical site.
601 Pennsylvania Ave is the site where, in 1814, the “Star-Spangled Banner” was first sung in public. The Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Building was completed at the same location in 1893. In 1985 B.F. Saul, a longtime family-owned DC real-estate development company, incorporated that original façade into the present office building. As a part of a building-wide upgrade of this National Treasure, Saul Centers selected Lightility to design and implement an LED efficiency upgrade that would reduce energy consumption, enhance lighting levels and aesthetics and help the building increase it’s Energy Star in order to meet current Building Energy Performance Standards requirements in Washington, DC.
Collaborating closely with Saul Centers, Lightility provided tailored LED fixtures and retrofit options, optimizing performance and cost-effectiveness while complying with local regulations and energy efficiency standards. Lightility helped streamline the renovation process, by minimizing disruptions & accelerating installation timelines to help Saul Centers achieve their project. A total of 2,294 fixtures were upgraded during this project.
Through this partnership, Saul Centers not only achieved their energy efficiency targets but also improved the visual appeal and functionality of the building’s interior spaces. Lightility’s commitment to excellence in lighting design ensured that the renovated areas at 601 Penn achieved both sustainability and enhanced lighting. This collaboration showcases the power of strategic partnerships in driving sustainable innovation and elevating commercial buildings into the future.
